# Bookmarks & Toolbar

Organize your favorite sites with hierarchical bookmarks and put your most-used links right in the toolbar for one-click access.

## Adding Bookmarks

Press **Ctrl+D** while viewing any page to bookmark it. Bookmarks are per-profile — each profile keeps its own separate library, so a research profile's links never bleed into a client profile's. Use the **All Profiles** view in the bookmarks dock to search across every profile at once.

Tip

**Quick workflow:** Researching a topic? Open several pages in separate panels, then **Ctrl+D** each one you want to keep. Later, select multiple bookmarks and open them all at once with batch operations.

## Organization

MetaDock bookmarks go beyond flat lists. You get a full file-system-style organization:

#### Hierarchical categories

Create folders within folders to any depth. Example: `Work → Clients → Acme Corp → Design Assets`

#### Tags

Add tags for cross-category organization. A bookmark can live in “Work” but also be tagged `#urgent` and `#design`. Filter by any tag instantly.

#### Drag & drop

Reorder bookmarks and move them between categories just by dragging. Works exactly like file management.

### Context menu actions

Right-click any bookmark or category for the full menu:

Edit bookmark

Delete bookmark

Copy URL

Open bookmark

Create new category

Delete/rename category

Create nested category

Move to parent

Expand/collapse all

Toggle columns

## Search & Filtering

With hundreds of bookmarks, you need fast search. MetaDock provides:

- •Real-time search — results update as you type, searching across bookmark names and URLs
- •Filter by tags — click a tag to show only bookmarks with that tag
- •Filter by category — drill into a folder to see just its contents

## Batch Operations

Select multiple bookmarks to operate on them as a group:

- •Open all selected — opens each bookmark in a new panel — great for loading up your daily reading list
- •Delete multiple — clean up old bookmarks in bulk

Tip

**Daily dashboard example:**Create a “Morning” category with your email, calendar, news, and task manager. Select all → open. Your daily workspace is ready in one click.

## Export & Backup

Export your MetaDock bookmarks to JSON or HTML format for backup, or to move them to another machine.

Note

Exports preserve your full folder structure, so a restored library comes back exactly as you organized it.

## Live Info Bar

The Live Info Bar is the customizable bar at the top of each layout. It's more than just bookmarks — it supports live content:

Item Type

What it does

Bookmarks

One-click access to saved URLs. Create folders to organize them.

Live Clocks

Show real-time clocks with timezone labels — perfect for traders or remote teams

RSS Feeds

Auto-refreshing news feeds that update every 5 minutes

Folders

Group toolbar items into collapsible sections

### Setting it up

Right-click the toolbar to add items. Drag and drop to reorder — you can even drag items between different layouts.

Tip

**Trader's toolbar example:** Add clocks for NYSE, LSE, and Tokyo time zones. Add RSS feeds for Reuters and Bloomberg. Add bookmark folders for each sector you track. Now your toolbar is a live information bar.

### Bookmark integration

Any bookmark saved in the **“Live Info Bar”** category automatically appears in the toolbar. This makes it easy to promote frequently-used bookmarks to one-click access.
