About
A workspace for people who live in twelve browser windows
MetaDock is a desktop workspace manager for Windows. It docks your browsers into one tiled layout, keeps every profile isolated from every other, and saves and restores the whole setup in one click. It is built and sold by Gammal Software, Inc., a software company in Toronto, Ontario.
Why it exists
Work on MetaDock started in March 2021, for an ordinary reason: three Jira accounts, and no way to be logged into all of them at once. The second reason was older than that, the way mIRC once let one window hold every conversation at the same time. Nothing about the browser had replaced either habit. Tabs stack, windows get lost behind windows, and a second account means a second profile you have to go and find.
The AI part came later and fitted the same shape. An agent that drives a browser you are already signed into does not need your password, and you can watch it work and take the mouse back when it stalls on something that wants a human.
How it is built
The application is C++ and Qt on WebView2, not Electron. It is the sixth rewrite in five years, which is not a method anyone should copy, but this one held. There is no background service and no account: metadock.exe is the application, and the same executable is the MCP server your AI client talks to. Profiles, cookies, workspaces, and browsing history live on your machine. There is no sync service and no user table, because a license key is the whole identity.
On MetaDock Pro the same browsers are programmable across 5 protocols, 668 discrete operations in total: REST, WebSocket, the Model Context Protocol, the Chrome DevTools Protocol, and W3C WebDriver. Existing Playwright or Selenium code attaches to a browser that is already warm and logged in.
What we will not do
MetaDock separates your own sessions from each other. It does not spoof device fingerprints, it ships no proxy network, and it is not sold as a way to look like somebody else to a website. Windows 10 and 11 are the only supported platforms: WebView2 is the engine, so a macOS build is not a port away, and we would rather give no date than a date we have not started.
