Everything people ask before getting MetaDock, in one place. Still stuck? Reach the team from the Support page.
Three ways. (1) Saved workspaces: every browser, profile, and split-screen layout on every monitor is bound to a task, restored in one click. (2) Isolated profiles: switch between client A and client B without logging out, opening incognito, or losing tabs. (3) AI agent control: REST, WebSocket, MCP, CDP, Selenium let Claude, Cursor, or your own scripts run the busywork so you don't have to switch at all, on MetaDock Pro.
A browser profile is like a completely separate person using the same browser; it has its own logins, saved passwords, browsing history, and website data, none of which bleed into any other profile.
Every browser panel you open is reachable over 5 protocols: REST, WebSocket, Chrome DevTools Protocol 1.3, W3C WebDriver, and an MCP server. All of them come with MetaDock Pro, unmetered and subject to Fair Use. The same visible browser keeps its profile state whichever surface you use.
Model Context Protocol, a standard that lets AI assistants like Claude Desktop, Claude Code, or Cursor control external tools. Add MetaDock to your mcpServers config and your AI can list, open, and drive real browser panels on your desktop. MetaDock's MCP server comes with MetaDock Pro, unmetered and subject to Fair Use.
Claude Desktop, Claude Code, and Cursor, plus any tool that implements the MCP standard.
Yes, on MetaDock Pro. Standard W3C WebDriver and Chrome DevTools Protocol, so your existing scripts point at MetaDock with minimal changes. Both are automation surfaces, so the MetaDock plan does not open them.
Yes. MetaDock is a multi-monitor browser manager for Windows. Drop any browser on any display, auto-tile a split-screen grid across one or more monitors, and save the whole arrangement as a layout you can restore in a click, across Windows 10 and Windows 11.
Yes. Auto-tiling lays out two, four, or any number of browsers in a split-screen grid on a single display, or stretches a layout across multiple displays. It works as split-screen software for Windows whether you're on a single monitor or a multi-display setup.
Yes. MetaDock supports any multi-display configuration Windows 10 or Windows 11 recognizes: dual monitors, triple monitors, ultrawide, or mixed-DPI setups. Saved layouts remember which display each browser belongs on.
Browsing data, profiles, and workspaces are stored locally with no MetaDock cloud sync. Because it's built on the Microsoft Edge Chromium engine, standard diagnostics are sent to Microsoft, and we collect pseudonymous usage telemetry (a stable installation ID we can resolve to your licence, plus edition, version, and aggregate counts). You can turn it off in Settings. See our Privacy Policy for details.
MetaDock includes an optional local password vault (Beta) for logins, API keys, cards, and notes. It's encrypted on your machine and unlocked only by your master password. There is no MetaDock-hosted vault sync, and the vault is not exposed through the automation API. The vault is still maturing, so keep your existing password manager as your system of record for now. You can skip it entirely; browser-profile storage remains separate either way.
Minimum: Windows 10/11 (64-bit), 4 GB RAM, 500 MB disk space. Recommended: Intel Core i5/AMD Ryzen 5 or better, 8+ GB RAM, SSD. More RAM and cores allow more simultaneous browser profiles.
Windows 10/11 only. A macOS version is planned, but no release date is set. Join the waitlist to be notified if and when one becomes available.
There is no licensed browser-panel limit. The practical number you can keep open depends on your hardware, including RAM, CPU, and GPU resources. Profiles are a separate concept and have no licensed limit either.
Yes, on MetaDock Pro. Claude Desktop, Claude Code or Cursor connect over MCP and can open, navigate and read many isolated browser profiles at the same time, all visible in your workspace. The built-in AI assistant (Beta) drives them through the same tools.
Yes. The built-in assistant (Beta, MetaDock Pro) detects Ollama and LM Studio running on their default ports and adds them for you, so it runs with no API key and no per-token fees. It also takes a key from Anthropic, OpenAI, Gemini, Groq, OpenRouter and other providers.
Yes. Download MetaDock and click Start 14-day free trial in the app. No account, no email, no card. The trial is MetaDock Pro, so the AI and automation are included. When the trial ends, MetaDock won't start until you subscribe. Your workspaces and profiles stay on your machine.
Two. MetaDock is $19/mo (or $170/yr) and is the workspace: unlimited profiles, layouts and workspaces, tiling and multi-monitor. MetaDock Pro is $49/mo (or $440/yr) and adds every automation protocol with no request quota, headless mode, the command line and the built-in AI assistant. Limits are identical on both; the difference is automation. The 14-day free trial gives you MetaDock Pro with no account, email or card.
